Wernstacular

Weekends are great, because you get to do whatever you want and enjoy your 50 or so hours away from the daily grind of practicing capitalism. However, weekends become exponentially better when you get to go spend your time celebrating the bond of two people reaching their stage of molding together unconditional love between each other. What is that celebration?

WEDDING!!!!!!

I'd like to unofficially announce the wedding of my good friends Stephanie Stanford and Bryce Wernsman. Now Bryce and Stephanie Wernsman. I can't tell you how happy I am for those two. Now I get to place the over and under on when the kids are going to have a kid. My bet is under a year we'll be hearing that a little Wernsman is on the way, but let's not get carried away now.
The wedding was awesome because we were so lucky to celebrate during one of the bitterly cold months, February. Not only was it cold... we were in Minneapolis, Minnesota! Woooohooooo!!!

Favorite quotes/lines from the wedding:

"I disagree with you, but I have no viable argument"

"Wait... Ben has a hot sister that lives in Lawrence, Kansas? Why didn't I know that?"
"I need to hit the hotel pool so that I can get in shape for the ladies at the wedding..."

"Wait...so you worked for Chris Dodd's (D) Campaign in Iowa and then where do you work now?.....Halliburton??? Well that's a 180 if I've ever heard of one....."

"table 2 is better friends with the groom than table 3!"

"table 3 is better friends with the groom than table 2!"

"I chose you guys to sit at tables 2 and 3 because my favorite number is 23...duh"

Lesson Learned:

Some friends can still be very awkward and weird...

People are willing to change their political views for money and career progression. :)

Friends are awesome and you can't replace the good ones.

There a lot of people that can dance better than I can.

Pepperoni and green peppers on pizza is acceptable.

Park your car under covered parking if at all possible.

The myth that winter weddings aren't as fun as summer weddings is false.
Congrats Bryce and Stef have a great move down to Phoenix and enjoy the start of a great life together! It was great to hear the story of how you two met... classic...

Lawrence, KS

Let me start off by saying that I am a Hoosier at Heart and no other basketball program will ever woo me as much as Indiana Basketball. Indiana Basketball is King in the state of Indiana and as far as I'm concerned the world as well. So anyways... I went to this place called Lawrence, Kansas this weekend and let me tell you. I give it about a A- for a college town especially in it's respects as a basketball town. Sherron Collins when seen in person playing is a beast and can make cuts like no other player I have seen play except Eric Gordon. I'll tell you one thing Lawrence you have a good thing going with your basketball program, stop worrying about your football coach because nobody wants to coach at a school with your type of basketball program... it will never happen...

We didn't get a chance to really explore the studio space of all the college bar scene, but we did go to The Wheel for a pregame warm up to get some bood lights to help fight the cold weather while we walked to the stadium. We successfully stole seats from some Kansas friends during this bar visit (SUCCESS). Our other place of venture that evening post-game was a bar called The Cave. The Cave was a brand new bar that included 3 levels in it's poor excuse to be a Jersey boyz favorite dance club (I did actually see two guitos here that evening). Each level comprised of a different type of bar.

Level 1: Wine Bar (Lame....)
Level 2: Shot Bar (Shotz, shotz, shotz, shotz - see Lil' John's rendition)
Level 3: Martini Bar (It is not a Martini Bar)

We spent our entire night at the Martini Bar which a Jerzey Boy would call heaven. 3 seperate bars that had beer and shot specials and in the middle, a dance floor that included 1 disco ball, lasers, and a dj mixing hits from the 80s/90s/2000s/2010. I heard no complaints except for one. A friend of mine who could not get over the fact that the dj would not play the mash-up hit from Gloria Estefan. It's the song that goes like, "c'mon shake ya body and do that conga, da, da, di, da, da, da..."" at least that's how he explained it. This is definitely one of those songs that you won't have the CD or on your best hits ipod play list, but I know EVERY person that listens to this likes it even if they claim not to. It's what I like to a call a dancing white elephant because if you're in a car with this song playing no one will change the station because there is a huge elephant (the conga music) in the car and no one can get to the radio controls.

From the pictures below I have a picture of one of the tickets we purchased from a scalper. Lesson learned from that experience is that if you wait long enough you will get the price you want. If you ever want to learn about business sit back and watch scalpers, you'll get in A in Microeconomics just spending a half hour. The guy we bought tickets from in the beginning told us we would never get the tickets for our asking price. Of course 30 minutes later and 10 minutes into the 1st half the guy finally came down to our asking price of $65.00. We ended up buying from someone else since the other guy came down first. I'll have to say whoever that guy was that told us we couldn't get tickets for $65... You sir... supplied more entertainment for us than the actual game itself... so I Thank you...

Kansas vs. Iowa State

The Wheel (Alumni/Frat Bar) *similar to Nick's if you've been to Indiana w/o the frats

Ticket Face Value: $85/Scalped Price: $65

The First Post

The Building of the Kingdom...

The posts that will mostly be placed on this blog will be random at best. Like the classic sitcom Seinfeld there will be absolutely no correlation with one posting to the next. I plan on at least making these posts somewhat entertaining to one person to the next. Maybe it will be a link to a up and coming website that I found or maybe I'll post some cool stuff from somewhere I traveled to recently. It could be a recommendation of somewhere to go and eat, travel, or pillage. Heck I might even discuss an article I read or take out some anger about a situation that I pickup at work/travel/social gatherings that just needs to be shared with other people. I'll try to post as many pictures since everyone loves pictures.

Let's be frank though my writing isn't the best, but I'm going to actually be optimistic here while I build my kingdom in front of everyone.. Maybe this will help spark some creative ideas or maybe this will just be forgotten in about a month. Only time will tell.... let's kick the tires and light the fires..
